INTEREST/STUDY GROUPS & PROGRAMMES

The current interest/study groups are listed below followed by proposed groups.  New members wishing to attend a group should contact the group leader first.

Group Leaders wishing to make announcements at the U3A main monthly meetings are required to inform the chairman before the day of the meeting.

Rita Turner, the General Co-ordinator, will be pleased to offer help and advice to any member wishing to start a new group.

Art Group There are several people interested in forming an Art group. All is required is a person to volunteer to be the group leader.  That person will be given all the help they require to get the group running.  (For the current programme click  here ).
Board Games Group November Claire Wilkie   This group meets on the third Monday of the month from 2.00pm to 4.00pm at St John's Centre, Mansfield.  Bring your own work and have a chat and a coffee.  (Please note:- small admission charge). Craft On the second Tuesday of each month, now at Resource Centre , Mansfield Woodhouse from 10am-12pm.   There will be a different topic each month. This month Tea-bag Folding.  Please contact Jean Thompson the group leader for further details and for what materials are needed for the meetings.  ( admission charge). (For the current programme click  here 
Creative Writing  K Wilsons Home third Friday in the month 2-4pm Ann Cox leader 467986  
A group for discussing and reviewing news items and topical issues.  
Discussion and Debate first Wednesday in month 2-4pm Stephanie Parker Leader 429469   Meets at variable, Mansfield Woodhouse  (Please note:- small admission charge).
A group for researching Family History.  Different topics covered at each meeting.  Meets at the Park Road Resource Centre, Park Road, Mansfield Woodhouse  (Please note:- small admission charge).
Garden Visits During the warmer months there are normally two or more visits to gardens open in Nottinghamshire each month, plus coach trips to the Harrogate Spring Flower Show in April.  (For the 2007-2008 Garden Visits Programme and further details click  here ).
Holiday, Breaks and Day-trips The Mansfield U3A organises various day-trips, weekend breaks and holidays throughout the year for all U3A members.  See entries in the  Diary Dates  web page or click  here  for full details.
Luncheon Group  An outing each month to various dining pubs and restaurants in the area.  Unless otherwise indicated 12.00 for 12.30 pm  If you wish to go to any of these lunches please contact Kathleen Wilson the group leader .  (For the current programme click  here ).
Classical Music Group All types of classical music, with a different composer or subject each month chosen in turn by the members.  Regular visits to live performances, operas, etc.  (For the current programme click  here ).
Reading Group 1 Group members are supplied with the same book and meet every month to discuss it. Please contact Carol Dawson the group leader for further information.
Singing for Fun -Ashfield Group Meeting on the third Tuseday of each month at the home of Maxine Rose 2pm-4pm.   Anyone wishing to attend please contact Maxine via Ashfield U3A.
Scrabble We play to enjoy the game but not too seriously as to make it hard work!
Tai Chi Group-Mansfield Group The Tai Chi Group will have a further ten sessions at the St John`s Centre in Mansfield from 9.30 to 10.30 am:-

Tai Chi- Ashfield Group.  Jill Pullan also runs a Tai Chi group on the First Friday in the month at The Ashfield Play Forum,Morven Avenue, Sutton -in -Ashfield at 10am.
